About Freak Lunchbox!

Freak Lunchbox was founded in 2001 in historic downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. Freak is a family owned business inspired by circus sideshows, roadside attractions and of course candy! For over a decade, we have been embraced and loved by both locals and visitors alike. Word on the street is that Freak Lunchbox may just be the best little candy store in Canada!

Repeat customer, actor Rob Lowe was overheard yelling "This Store is The Bomb!!!!"

We recently had a visit from the original Willy Wonka himself, Mr. Gene Wilder!

Freak Lunchbox has been featured in local and national media, and has garnered a celebrity clientele including such A-listers as Tom Selleck, Lucy Liu, Gabriel Byrne, Candice Bergan, Julianne Moore, Pierce Brosnan, John Stamos, Ethan Hawke and Sandra Oh.

Freak Lunchbox searches the world to find the weirdest, newest and hippest candy and pop culture items on the market. We also whip up custom, thick, amazing milkshakes on our old-school mixers!

We have a passion for classic hand-painted signage and create all of our own with a team of artists in the Freak Lunchbox art studio in Halifax.

Freak Lunchbox is a labour of sweet, sweet love and we hope you can feel it when you visit.

Giving Back

RUNNING TOTAL $22,185.21!

Freak Lunchbox understands the importance of giving back.

We have been very proud to show our appreciation and support for the children in our communities by hosting 'Freak Lunchbox Candy for Kids Day'.

On this day, all of the proceeds of our bulk candy sales were donated to local children's hospitals. Together for this fundraiser alone we have raised $22,185.21 for our local Children's Hospitals: IWK Health Services in the Maritimes, Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary, the Janeway Foundation in Newfoundland and Operation Enfant Soleil in Montreal.

Throughout the year, we are also involved in showing our support by offering donations in the form of packages and gift cards to local charitable organizations and events. These have included charities such as Christmas Daddies, L.O.V.E., The Children's Wish Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society as well as countless schools and community fundraisers. Most recently with the help of our customers we were able to raise $2517.00 for the Barho family of Halifax.

Freak Lunchbox has decided to focus the bulk of our fundraising on children, youth and community outreach programs.

Due to the overwhelming number of requests that we get, it is just not possible for us to meet the needs of everyone. Only selected organizations will be contacted. Please note that if we have donated to your organization before we may not be able to do this annually as we wish to include as many people as possible. We are also unable to process any requests from personal or private events. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Keep up the good work!
